More Whalesharks at Chumphon Pinnacle

wsviz300x225Guess its been almost 2 weeks since we saw our last Whaleshark and bearing in mind the weather we have been having it isnt entirely surprising. Guess we figured that would be it on the Whaleshark sightngs for a while. So what a lovely surprise to see this little fella hanging out waiting for us at Chumphon Pinnacle yesterday, chilling out & waiting to hang out with the divers again. What amazing creatures they are. The Behemoths of the Deep.

The sun is out & its finally stopped raining! Diving, anyone?

sunset300x225And on the 7th day… the sun appeared! That was quite possibly the most amount of rain we have had here in quite some years! But it appears to be over now. The weather forecast is for a few more patches of drizzle but nothing compared to what we’ve had here for the last 7 days. & the sunset for us last night & this morning its just another beautiful day in paradise. Anyone fancy a dive today?

Whats the weather like right now?

rains300x225Here's your coming 7 day weather forecast summary for Koh Tao:

The average daytime maximum temperature will be around 31°C, with a high for the week of 33°C expected on the afternoon of Thursday 8th. The mean minimum temperature will be 27°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Tuesday 13th at 27°C. Expect the coming week to have some days seeing a little precipitation and some days with rain. The indicators are that Wednesday 13th will have the most precipitation with an accumulation of around 60.0mm. On the whole winds are likely to be moderate.

In other words- it's pissing down!

Scared of learning to Dive? So was Jess until...

alex300x225Great write up from Jess, who was one of our recent Open Water Students-

"I worked myself up about all that could go wrong.
I lost count of how many times I peed in my wetsuit from the nerves.
I thought I had decompression sickness from a tingling knee injury the morning of the first day.
I swore I was going to die from a lightning rod when the storm came in.
After 4 days of shitting myself, (that I didn't literally do) we got through our Open Water Diving course. Now, we're licensed to dive up to 18 meters anywhere in the world!!

I cannot begin to describe how proud I am of myself. Whatever your fearful of, big or small.... don't rob yourself of the opportunity to see what you can actually take on!

Next goal: DiveMaster!"

Beach clean up at Sairee beach, everyone welcome.

BBCa300x225A little tricky with high tide, but we did manage to clean half the beach, and then collect trash on the way back to Big Blue along the road. Then followed in the afternoon with a Sairee reef clean up dive. Big Blue Conservation would like to thank everyone that joined in to help us clean the environment that day. Great job guys, thank you..

Monsoon fun in the sun.

monsoon300x225It appears Monsoon may have finally hit us. Usually hits us early November with a heavy spell of rain & quite alot of wind, enough to make the Lomprayah Catamaran journey to Koh Tao an experience you would rather forget. But its always over by Christmas! So chances are we are in for a rather miserable December I'm afraid. But don't stress. It won't last long & the rains aren't your typical movie madness monsoons but rather a heavy dousing of prepissitation!
