Coral reefs are the building blocks of many ocean ecosystems. They are incredibly important to the health of the oceans, as well as the health of the planet as a whole. Understanding more about coral identification is a great way to turn you into a more Eco-conscious diver.
During the Coral Identification course, you will focus on learning and understanding coral anatomy and biology, identifying coral health, and learning about diseases and coral bleaching.
In the morning, you’ll attend a presentation on the ecology of reefs and how to identify some of the biology behind the huge variety of aquatic life. In the afternoon, you’ll put your new identification skills into practice in the water on two coral identification fun dives. You’ll be amazed at how much new and exciting life you’ll be able to find!
In order to enroll on the Coral Identification course, you need to be a certified Open Water diver. Big Blue Diving will provide all equipment, boat trips, etc., for the duration of the course.
Don’t forget! Because of the extra nitrogen your body builds up while scuba diving, you cannot fly within 24hrs of your last dive.
