If you thought Five star Dining was something to experience wait till you try Five Star Diving!
Honestly, Five stars are not enough for a place like this.
From the bearded guy in the booking office in town, to the courteous waiters in the Restaurant, i have not met anyone who was not willing to help, who was not friendly or who was not passionate about what they do.. diving!
I never dived before and decided to start straight with the OW course instead of spending money for a “trial dive”. My instructor Gus immediately took care of me and helped fill out the paperwork and explained the procedure of the course.
We were a group of four people which was the perfect size to learn diving. Whenever something was not clear from the beginning, Gus patiently explained the exercise again and waited until everyone understood what to do.
We spent the first day in the pool which gave us some confidence we needed before diving in the ocean.
On the second day, we went with the boat to a easy rated dive site to spend our first minutes underneath the surface. The dive briefing on the boat was very clear and we knew perfectly what to do and how to react in different situations.
Gus was both, a very good instructor and some kind of friend on Koh Tao who recommended what to do and where to eat. I would definitely recommend you to go for the OW course with Gus and Big Blue.
We loved the place so much that we actually came back two weeks after we left to spend the rest of our Holiday budget on fun dives with Big Blue.
Big Blue is not only a cool place because diving its cheap and fun, they also take care of the environment with avoiding plastic and teaching their divers how to behave close to corals so as not to harm them.
The restaurant has also a bar which is open until late and a Juice shop (i think they are operated from another Company). As a recommendation from my side: as they are somehow partner of Big Blue they should also be committed to avoid single use plastic. E.g. I ordered a juice for in house and got it in a plastic cup with a straw and a lit. Same with a cocktail from the bar.
If i ever find the courage to quit my boring office job in Germany, please see this as my application.
