The online Open Water Course now allows the student diver to complete their theory at home and means it now just takes 1 and a half days to complete the water work section of the course!
Whereas the back packer traveler of yesteryear would arrive at their destination with no fixed plans & a totally flexible timetable in which to go from one place to the next the trend these days for the modern Backpacker is to go visit & see as many places as possible in whatever period of time the traveler has available. Consequently our old visitors to Koh Tao would often stay here for an average duration of 7 days. They hadn’t necessarily planned on staying so long but they liked here and there was no desperate urgency to head off to the next place so they’d hang out here for a day or too longer than originally expected.
Nowadays however people arrive reckoning 4 days is enough time to spend here then book their on going ferry ticket & accommodation at their next destination before they’ve even set foot on the island thus depriving themselves of all the fun this island has to offer. Which also means that many people aren’t even considering taking part in the 4 day open water course any more because it would leave them no time to do anything else.
What if I could tell you that we now have a very cunning way in which you can get scuba certified with us and instead of it taking 4 days it will only take you a day and a half!
The secret is … Self study! Or Online learning which is now available for all your diving courses.
You can choose to do your online learning with PADI or with SSI but we would highly recommend the SSI Online Training because its FREE!!! Do the training at your leisure prior to getting to Koh Tao at no financial cost to you & if you decide to continue your education and want to become a certified diver, you will need to sign up for an SSI Open Water Diver class with us.
How does the free training for the online open water course work?
1. Register: To start the FREE online program you must first register. We need your first name, last name, date of birth, email address and zip code. This is the information we need to record your progress and connect us. We will then be notified of your registration (with your permission). We are here to help you every step of the way and can answer any of your questions or concerns.
2. The program: Focuses on the academics needed to become a SCUBA diver.
3. Completion of the online academics: If you want to further your scuba training, you will need to pop in see us & sign up for the Scuba Diving course. Once you are signed you up we will have an access code to retrieve and apply your academic training to your scuba class.
4. Get Certified and GO DIVING! We will spend one morning in the pool doing all the water work you need to know in shallow water before heading out on our boat in the afternoon to do 2 dives in the sea no deeper than 12 meters at 2 different divesites. The next morning we will go out and do 2 more dives to a maximum depth of 18 meters at 2 more divesites. By lunchtime you will be finished and a certified Open Water diver!
So there you have it. Roll up for your online Open Water Course on Koh Tao and complete the waterwork in just a day and a half! No more excuses!
