Big Blue Diving Koh Tao is super proud to be hosting the Swim for Sharks charity event again for 2020! This Shark Week, join us for some laughs, some swimming, some games, and an amazing cause.
What is Swim for Sharks 2020?
Swim for Sharks is an annual event that we’ve been putting on for 15 years. We give back to our island and our ocean all year round through community projects and conservation initiatives. But Swim for Sharks is our once-a-year huge charity effort to help support shark conservation around the world. All proceeds raised will be donated to Shark Guardian and Sea Shepherd. Money is raised through raffles, games, and the competitive and fun swims. Think you can go the distance out there in the ocean? The swimming event is a 3.4km circuit all the way around Nang Yuan island.
We love our oceans and we LOVE sharks. Swim for Sharks 2020 will bring together the community on Koh Tao, and neighbouring islands, for a day of fun and fundraising for a cause that directly affects all of us.
When is it?
Swim for Sharks 2020 is on Saturday, August 15th, 2020. Check in for the competitive and fun swim opens at 11:15 am and the boat departs for the start line at 12:00 pm. Fun activities and games will be waiting for the swimmers when they get back, and there will be a Swim for Sharks 2020 after party at our beachfront bar later in the night.
How do you register for the swimming events?
Registration is now OPEN for both the Competitive and Fun Swim. To register, head over to our Swim for Sharks 2020 Facebook event and confirm your attendance. If you want to take part in the competitive swim you should also send us an email at [email protected], just to make sure we’ve got you on our list of serious swimmers.
You can also register in person by visiting our Big Blue Diving main office located directly on North Sairee Beach. You can get to us by simply walking north on Sairee Beach, past Fizz Beach Lounge, until you see the Big Blue Diving flags. You can also get to us via the main road. Simply drive north on the main road, past the small 7/11 in the heart of Sairee Village, until you see the big yellow Big Blue Diving sign. We have a large parking lot just off the main road so you don’t have to worry about where to park your bike.
The entry fee to register for the swimming events is 150 baht per person. The event entry fees, along will all donations and proceeds from raffles, will be donated to global shark conservation groups.
All the Swim for Sharks 2020 details
- Event date: Saturday, August 15th
- Registration closes for both the Competitive and Fun Swim 11:00 am
- Late entrance will be available on the day, however you must register by 11:00 am
- Swimmers and supporters meet for check-in at the Big Blue Diving Restaurant at 11:15 am
- Boats leave at 12:00 pm
- Competitive Swim starts at 12:15 pm
- Fun Swim starts 1:00 pm
- Boat returns around 3:00 pm
- Swim for Sharks 2020 After Party at Big Blue Diving Resort starting at 7:00 pm
- Don’t forget to bring cash as they’ll be opportunities to purchase raffle tickets for great prizes
