The best dive center on Koh Tao for dive students might be the worst one for certified divers so do check that the dive center you choose to spend your hard earned money with takes care of you the certified diver!
Recognizing the best dive center on Koh Tao for certified divers?
If you are planning on taking in a dive course on Koh Tao then make sure the Dive center you choose to dive with takes you to a different dive site on each dive. You don’t want to do 4 dives in the sea all at the same place do you? You want to see what all the fuss is about. And honestly if Chumphon Pinnacle (arguably Koh Tao’s best dive site with many big fish to look at) isn’t one of the dive sites listed (weather permitting), then forget about it! Dive with someone else.
You also want to make sure that during your time on Koh Tao you at least get to dive one of the dive sites around Koh Nang Yuan, like Green Rock, Red Rock or White Rock, Twins or Japanese Gardens. These sites are beautiful underwater and the view from above is pretty spectacular too.
If you are already a certified diver then do your research and choose the sites you want to dive then go to your Dive Center and ask them to schedule these dive sites for you while you are there. Every good shop will be able to sort that out for you no problem.
Or here’s a good tip- go to a dive center and ask them where they are going diving? If they don’t say to you, “Where would you like to go diving?” then go somewhere that does! Many centers overlook the certified diver in favor of concentrating their business aimed at bringing in the Open Water Students.
How big are the boats? Are they comfortable on spacious or we are going to be made to feel like sardines in a tin? Is there a dive deck and socializing deck or is it all focused in the same area? Surely the best dive center on Koh Tao will have well thought out spacious dive boats.
Make sure you choose a center that is as welcoming to the certified diver as they are with the student diver! And don’t forget to schedule a day in to dive Sail Rock, the Number One dive site in the Gulf of Thailand. Not many shops go here as it is a wee bit further out, but so worth it and of course you know that when it comes to choosing the best dive center on Koh Tao to go out diving with that your first point of call should be to us at Big Blue Diving, home to the best Divemasters on Koh Tao, but that’s content for another blog!
