Why Koh Tao is the best place for your Divemaster Training

Koh Tao is a very popular choice for those wanting to do their Divemaster Training.  With over 90 dive center’s on Koh Tao, finding the one most suitable for you has never been harder.  And that’s not even thinking about the dive centers on our neighboring islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan!

Let’s take a look at our Top 10 Reasons why Koh Tao is the best place to do your Divemaster Training in Southeast Asia – And why Big Blue Diving is your best choice for professional dive training.

1.  Spend Time Diving Koh Tao

Divemaster Training on Koh Tao can be done in just 4 weeks if you’re in a hurry, but when time isn’t an issue then you can take as long as you’d like to finish the course.  Many of our Divemaster’s in Training like to spend a good chunk of time diving and navigating the sites around Koh Tao so that they’re ready to guide real customers once they’re signed off.  And with over 25 local dive sites to choose from, why hurry when you can dive as much as you’d like during your training?

2.  Large, Custom-made Dive Boats

We have one of the largest fleets of dive boats on Koh Tao.  With our large, custom-made boats (rather than the usual small ex-fishing boats favored by most of our rivals) you can really enjoy the travel time before, between, and after dives.  Each one has plenty of covered areas so that you can protect yourself from the sun (or rain), a dedicated wet-deck for gear, and a comfortable upstairs seating area for surface intervals and dive briefings.  And because our boats are big, they’re a lot more stable in rough seas, letting us go out on days when other boats would struggle.

3.  Unrivaled Access to Local Dive Sites

With no restrictions on where we can send our dive boats, you’ll have more access to different dive sites than customers diving at smaller dive centers.  That’s the bonus of diving with a well-established dive center with 30 years of experience operating in the Gulf of Thailand.  And since we also run regular trips to Sail Rock and Samran Pinnacle, your dive log will contain sites that other Divemaster’s in Training can only dream about.

4.  Students and Fun Divers Have Their Own Dive Boats

An important factor to consider when committing to at least a month of diving on Koh Tao is whether you’ll have to go to the same beginner dive sites every day.  After all, Koh Tao has a lot more first time divers than those already certified, so dive centers often have to send certified divers to the same sites as their beginning students.  If we had just one dive boat, things would be the same here.  But we’re different in the best way possible, and if you’re an advanced diver we’ll get you to an advanced site whenever you’d like.

5.  Become An Employable Divemaster on Koh Tao

If you’re planning to look for Divemaster work on Koh Tao after your training has finished, do you want to know just a handful of dive sites, or do you want to know them all? Our fresh new Divemaster’s generally know more about the underwater world around Koh Tao than 90% of the other Divemaster’s who’ve trained at other shops.  And our Divemaster’s are known for their high quality training and their strict adherence to safety standards.  Being able to lead scuba divers around a dive site while showing them all the cool underwater creatures AND while keeping them super safe – That’s what makes a great Divemaster!

6.  Get Your Training From the Best Divemaster’s on Koh Tao

At Big Blue Diving, we have a team of Divemaster’s that, between them, have led thousands of dives here on Koh Tao.  Our Divemaster’s will teach you how to find the most obscure marine life, what to expect when exploring off a dive site, and how to organize and run a dive boat efficiently and effectively.  Even if you decide to take a Divemaster position somewhere else in the world, you’ll be the best suited candidate every single time!

7. Great location – Super central!

With limited space on the beaches, not all of the dive centers on Koh Tao are blessed with what we get to enjoy every single day.  We have sunset facing beachfront classrooms, beach side dorms, beachfront bar, restaurant and coffee shop, beachfront massage center, and dedicated training pool.  If you can’t relax at Big Blue Diving, then you may not be able to relax anywhere.  Come join us for a sunset drink and see for yourself.  You may never leave!

8.  We Dive Koh Tao 356 Days a Year

High season?  Diving.  Monsoon season?  Diving.  Christmas Day?  Diving. Songkran?  Diving.  Martin Luther King Day?  Diving.  You get the idea!  As one of Koh Tao’s only dive centers that dive every single day of the year, rain or shine, you can be sure that if you want to really get in as many dives as possible during your Divemaster Training experience, then Big Blue Diving is the place for you.

9.  Scuba Tanks Stay on the Boats

Now this is one that a lot of potential Divemaster’s in Training don’t think about when shopping around for the dive center.  Moving tanks to and from the boat every time you want to dive can really suck.  Tanks are heavy and it’s a job nobody likes.  Inevitably, it’s Divemaster’s in Training who usually get the job of moving all the tanks needed for a dive trip.  But you won’t have to do that at Big Blue Diving!  We have multiple compressors on our dive boats so all the scuba tanks we need are sitting there filled and ready for us when we get there.

10. Do Something Different With Your Koh Tao Divemaster Training

Big Blue Diving is the only dive center on Koh Tao offering Technical Diving, Freediving, Photography, and Videography courses in addition to our recreational and professional diver training programs. With Big Blue Pro, Big Blue Conservation, Big Blue Tech, and Big Blue Freediving, we are THE leader in diver education.  If you’re interested in becoming a serious diving professional then why wouldn’t you learn from the best?
