With so many choices the question is where to stay on Koh Tao? North, south, east or west or on the island off the side! Well right now you are spoiled for choice.
When this lockdown is over & you have rightfully chosen Koh Tao as your perfect holiday destination, where are you going to stay? Maehaad? Chalok Baan Kao? or Sairee Beach?๐
Well here’s what we think…๐ง
Maehaad- the capital
Maehaad where you arrive when you first land on Koh Tao, is ok but its very crowded when the passenger ferries come and go and lots of dive boats & snorkeling tours start and leave from here and it lacks the holiday island feel that you experience on other parts of the island. ๐ณ 8/10
Chalok Baan Kao- old school Tao
Chalok Baan Kao, nice but its south of the island so you can miss out on some spectacular Koh Tao sunsets. It’s also a very shallow beach here so makes it kind of difficult to go for a swim off the beach when the depth is literally up to your knees, but Chalok is a lot quieter here than Maehaad and Sairee so there is that. ๐ 9/10
Sairee Beach- the sunset strip
Sairee Beach, the longest beach on the island and also the busiest. West facing, great sunsets and at the heart of Koh Tao nightlife with all the islands best bars beaches and nightclubs. Also quite a lot of difference between the quieter part of north Sairee and the more bustling area of central Sairee. ๐ฏ 10/10
