Tech Divers check this one! Resting just off Mae Haad on the west coast of Koh Tao, the Mae Haad Ghost Fleet is a collection of abandoned fishing vessels sitting in about 30 meters depth so this site is more suitable for Tech divers.. Depths typically range from around 30meters + at the sandy seabed. The depth makes exploratory dives with plenty of time to weave between structures and take in the details best as tech diver!

Currents & Conditions
Half an hour off shore, the Ghost Fleet is generally sheltered with light to minimal current. Visibility often ranges from 8–20 meters depending on tide and plankton levels. Water temperatures remain warm at 27–30°C year-round. Conditions are usually calm, making it an accessible and intriguing wreck-style dive for basic tech divers.

Underwater Landscape & Marine Life
The fleet consists of multiple wooden and metal fishing boats resting upright and partially broken down, creating an atmospheric underwater scene. Nets, frames, and hull structures now serve as artificial reef habitat, attracting schools of snapper and fusiliers that hover above the wreckage. Barracuda occasionally patrol the perimeter, while groupers and moray eels shelter within shadowed compartments. The sandy areas between vessels are good spots for blue-spotted stingrays, and macro life thrives along encrusted surfaces — nudibranchs, shrimp, and juvenile reef species are commonly found. The combination of clustered wrecks and marine colonisation gives the site a slightly mysterious, almost cinematic feel — a very different experience from Koh Tao’s natural granite reefs.

Skill Level & Certification
Suitable for Dive Pro’s but better for Tech Divers in calm conditions due to its depth. It’s also a popular site for Advanced training and wreck specialties, offering excellent opportunities to practice buoyancy and positioning around structure. As always, good buoyancy control is key to protect growing marine life and avoid disturbing sediment.

Access & Logistics
Maehaad Ghost Fleet is one of the most conveniently located tech dive sites on the island. We meet at 7:20am and depart directly from Sairee Beach via our shuttle boats to our main dive boat, with a short travel time keeping the morning efficient. Expect to return around 11:30pm — shallow wreck atmosphere, easy logistics, and something a little different from the usual reef dive.
