Are you in need of a Scuba Refresher Dive?

As much as people love diving, sometimes they can’t find the time to keep diving regularly. The longer a diver spends out of the water, the easier it becomes to forget the basic skills you need to be a safe and competent diver. So before you jump back in the ocean, it’s recommended you take a Scuba Refresher.

If it has been more than a year since your last dive we may require you to complete a Scuba Refresher course with us before you can move on to your training course or sign up for fun dives. The Scuba Refresher is required to make sure that you remember how to do buddy checks, how to clear your mask or retrieve a lost regulator, and assist your buddy in the case of an emergency.

During the Scuba Refresher, you’ll spend some time with your divemaster and will go through a small test to remind you of the basics of scuba diving, the air spaces in your body, the equipment, and general dive procedures. You’ll then head out in the afternoon to do at least one dive at a shallow site around the island. You’ll perform some scuba skills to show your divemaster that you remember your training, then you’ll go out for a bit of a dive around the site.

The Scuba Refresher only includes one dive, but the afternoon boat goes out for two dives. Most people choose to do a second dive with their divemaster instead of sitting on the boat.  If you choose to do this second dive, there will be a standard charge of 900 baht for the dive.

Here is the basic schedule for the Scuba Refresher.

11:00 – Meet your divemaster and have a short academic session and talk about some of the skills you be required to perform, and some basic scuba theory and safety rules. Then you’ll head out to our large dive boat and your divemaster will help get you set up with the gear you’ll need for the afternoon.

11.45-12.30 – Take a short break before heading out for the refresher

12:45 – The dive boat departs for a nice shallow beach or bay where we can find a sandy area to perform skills.

13:00-16:30 – Dives one and two. On dive one, your divemaster will show you skills underwater then will ask you to repeat it back to them. Once the whole group has properly performed the skills, you’ll head out for a brief dive around the site. Dive two will be entirely spent exploring the reef and getting to know the local marine life.

17:30-18:00 – Arrive back on land to log your dives and enjoy a Sairee beach sunset.

Don’t forget! Because of the extra nitrogen your body builds up while scuba diving, you cannot fly within 24hrs of your last dive.

Are you fit to dive?

Scuba diving is an activity that requires a certain level of physical health. Read this medical questionnaire. If you can answer yes to any of the questions you may require medical clearance to enroll in a diving course. Contact us for more information.
