The Big Blue Academy for Tech Diving Thailand Academy is a place where Divers and Technical Divers can come and train before progressing any further with courses. It may be that you completed a Technical course in Sidemount but would now like to be able to dive to the same level in Twinset or vice versa, here in the academy we can cover this, training here is a la-carte.
If life outside of Diving has kept you on dry land and short of practice then looking for a place to refresh skills and train can be a challenge. Here at the Technical Diving Academy, we will provide you with the opportunity and environment to work on skills with a Technical Dive Instructor in the pool, shallow water and on Technical dives in order to attain the level you’re aiming for within your current certification level.
Who is the Academy for?
In short everyone, the Recreational Diver thinking of Tech, the Technical Diver who wants to be more accomplished before moving on to the next level or the dive instructor looking to better themselves. The Technical Diving Academy by Big Blue Tech is for you, the divers. With a beachside location, support for Single tank, Twinsets, Sidemount and CCR divers including a dedicated Technical Diving Boat you won’t find a better option to train without the pressure of certification.

Evaluation
Do you need to reassess where you should already be and if you are still at that level? The answer to that is almost always “yes”. Technical Diving moves on and with new knowledge comes new standards and new skills.If you are in any doubt then this is where we start, an evaluation of where you and a look at the training that will get you to where you want to be.
The classroom is always important, a good solid understanding of the theory behind Technical Diving will really help later on in the process and our Instructors can simplify and streamline this to build on the foundations already there. Into the pool, less than 10 meters from the Big Blue Tech office and with all the equipment you need we can video everything and review these over coffee, nowhere to hide on video so it’s an important part of any training.
Progression
In a very short time, most Technical Divers reach the baseline they achieved on the last course they took. Now it’s time to raise the bar, progression to the next level. Here we are aiming for true “mastery” of skills and an understanding of the importance of these skills, we’re also starting to look at combinations and possible scenarios.
These sessions take place in the pool and shallow confined before progressing onto Technical dives on the sites surrounding Koh Tao. “Challenge” Dives where we run scenarios you will have come across during previous courses or session with us are now put into play and are of enormous benefit to Technical Divers in evaluating if the core skills have indeed been mastered and expose any areas for further work, they are also immensely rewarding, have fun don’t die.
Instructor Standard
Now this one is on you, what we would like to see before students move onto the next Technical Diving course are skills from the previous course demonstrated at Instructor Standard. This is where the Technical Diving Academy comes to the fore if you have the time and desire then don’t worry, so do we!
If you’re already a Diving Instructor at any level then the Academy can work for you as well, if you would like to work on any skills we can help. With an emphasis on neutral buoyancy early in the Open Water training programs we are happy to encourage this and work on skills circuits with you here at Big Blue Tech. No matter what level of diver you are we aim to help you be the best you can be.

Fun Divers use the latest equipment, Sidemount or Twinset along with APEKS and AQUATEC regulators, they also have access to us prior to arrival in order to get the most out of a short trip to Koh Tao. Once onsite we plan dives beachside with coffee or tea, the sea is quite literally 10 meters from our location and our boat leaves from the beach.
