After almost two months of being a bit stranded on a tropical island, the ferry to Koh Tao will be running again shortly. A few of us are getting a bit itchy to see a different place, but that’s not the real reason why we’re happy the ferries are coming back. Now you can FINALLY come and visit us on Koh Tao!
We got lucky on the island. There still has never been a confirmed case of Covid-19 on the island, and we’re quite proud of that. Koh Tao worked together to protect our community and that meant that while most of the world was living under some pretty heavy restrictions, we were still able to go to the beach, go snorkeling, takes hikes through the jungle, and kayak trips out to Nang Yuan island. Sure the bars and clubs were closed, and restaurants were only open for takeaway, but for a bit, it did feel like we all had this gorgeous tropical island all to ourselves.
But that’s changed now because we’re back open again! And we’re super happy about it!
The local government gave Koh Tao dive centres that they could open again about 10 days again and we wasted no time getting our boats ready for diving. In fact, the very next morning, half of our staff and Divemasters in Training got to head out on our very first trip in almost two months. Chumphon Pinnacle and Whiterock never looked so stunning! The following morning the other half of our divers went out for their exciting dive trip. Visibility has been stunning, loads of fish returned to the dive sites, and we’ve seen a few whale sharks too!

On May 25th, Lomprayah Ferries will resume their route to Koh Tao. The schedule is not going to be the same as it was before the island was closed off from the mainland, and could change quickly, so make sure you get in contact with Lomprayah to confirm ferry times to Koh Tao.
But so far, this is what we’ve heard.
Lomprayah will be running small speedboats, not the larger catamaran-style boats, until further notice. There will also only be one route and one departure point from the mainland
Depart Surat Thani – 11:00 am
Depart Samui – 12:45 pm
Depart Koh Phangan – 1:00 pm
Arrive Koh Tao – 2:30 pm

It is possible to change your location and get a change of scenery. Take the ferry to Koh Tao and start spending your days on the beach, or better yet, diving!
