Big Blue Diving is fully open.
Big Blue Diving reopened on May 8th, and we have been operating at least 2 dive boats every single day since. Every morning we head out to dive sites like Chumphon and Southwest Pinnacle, and every afternoon we pop over to the dive sites around Koh Nang Yuan. At least twice a week we’ve sending full-day trips out to Sail Rock, the best dive site in the Gulf of Thailand.
We’re starting courses every day, whether it’s the Open Water Diver Course, Advanced Diver Course, Sidemount Diving, or our Divemaster Course. Our Advanced Diver Courses are still managing to squeeze in regular night dives. Andy and our technical divers at Big Blue Tech are out regularly checking to make sure the wrecks around Koh Tao are still there. And JP, our Freediving Instructor, has never been as busy as he is right now.
Isabella is concentrating her efforts on Big Blue Conservation by increasing the size of our house artificial reef. She’s recently dropped several small concrete blocks near our reef and has started some much-needed coral propagation.
Simo has already trained at least 4 new Scuba Diving Instructors at Big Blue Pro with more on the way. And Robin has reopened our high street retail store Drift in Sairee Village as well.
Can you believe we’ve even managed to open up the Watergate Spa and Massage here at our Big Blue Diving Resort since the lockdown too! We’re doing our very best to put the apocalypse behind us!
On top of all that, we’ve reopened our AC rooms as well as our beachfront and poolside bungalows. The Koh Tao hotels that we are affiliated with, like Blue Tao Beach Hotel and Thalassa Hotel, are all open as well, and offering some pretty good deals too! Shoot us a message and we’ll do our best to get you the best last-minute price possible. There are also many lovely resorts around the island that have also reopened including Sairee Hut, Koh Tao Cabana, Cape Shark, Koh Tao Heights, and Baan Sawainam, just to name a few.
Our favourite restaurants like Blue Water, Cafe Del Sol, Whitening, Milk & Honey and Barracuda are all open, as well as our favourite coffee and breakfast spots like Zest, Breeze and Coconut Monkey. Top that off with Koh Tao’s best bars like Maya Bar, Fish Bowl, Goodtime and (of course) Big Blue Diza Bar, and you’ve got yourself quite an evening of entertainment.
As for other adventurous outdoor activities, well they’ve all opened too! Rock climbing is back up and running, we got kiteboarding, trapezing, organised beach and shoreline cleanups, hikes through the jungle, snorkelling tours, kayak rentals, stand up paddleboards, freediving, technical diving, and scuba diving!
Koh Tao is open for business so that you can have a real vacation.
Many of our recent customers have told us that Koh Tao Island is much more open than anywhere else in Thailand right now. If you choose to spend your holiday in Pattaya or on Koh Samui, you might be disappointed with how many businesses remain closed. Here on Koh Tao, you will not get stuck at your resort for your entire vacation. You can eat in restaurants, go out diving, wander the beaches, explore the jungle, visit all the viewpoints, and hit some of the nightlife spots for a sunset beer (or three).
Koh Tao has remained COVID-free BUT the island is still taking precautions to make sure it stays that way. And it’s because of these precautions that life on this paradise island has been allowed to continue pretty much as normal.
