Resting on the sandy seabed off the north of Koh Tao, the Torpedo Wreck is a compact but characterful artificial reef sitting at depth starting around 38 meters. The upper sections begin around the 40 meters, with the sand line at approximately 46 meters. Its a deep dive suitable for tech divers only.

Currents & Conditions
Conditions at the Torpedo Wreck are generally calm to mild, though light currents can occasionally sweep across the structure. Visibility typically ranges from 10–25 meters depending on season and plankton levels. Water temperatures remain a steady 27–30°C year-round, though slight thermoclines can sometimes be felt closer to the seabed. On clear days, the wreck becomes visible as a defined shape emerging through a misty cloud.

Underwater Landscape & Marine Life
The Torpedo is a smaller steel vessel intentionally sunk to create marine habitat and training opportunities. Its streamlined profile and open framework have become home to a surprising amount of life. Schools of fusiliers and snapper hover above the wreck, while trevally and queenfish patrol the perimeter. Barracuda are regular visitors, often hanging motionless just off the structure. Moray eels tuck themselves into openings in the metalwork, and lionfish frequently occupy shaded corners. The surrounding sand often reveals blue-spotted stingrays resting quietly, and macro life thrives along encrusted surfaces. The compact nature of the wreck allows divers to comfortably explore the entire structure within a single dive, making it both engaging and accessible.

Skill Level & Certification
Suitable for Advanced Open Water divers due to depth, though experienced Open Water divers may visit in calm conditions with appropriate depth limits. It’s a popular site for wreck specialty training, buoyancy refinement, and navigation practice. Good buoyancy control is essential to protect developing marine growth and maintain safe positioning around the structure.

Access & Logistics
The Torpedo Wreck is typically featured on our west coast morning schedule when conditions are favorable. We meet at 7:20am and depart directly from Sairee Beach via our shuttle boats to our main dive boat. Travel time is short and efficient, maximizing bottom time. The site is often paired with a shallower second dive such as Twins or White Rock to create a balanced profile. Expect to return around 12:30pm — a proper wreck atmosphere without pushing into extreme depths
