Marine life at Twins/ Buoyancy World...
Nestled just off the coast of Koh Nang Yuan, Twins and Buoyancy World combine to create one of the most versatile and user-friendly dive experiences around Koh Tao. Twins is formed by two granite pinnacles rising from a sandy seabed, with depths ranging from 5 meters on the reef tops down to around 18–20 meters on the deep er twin. Just a short fin away lies Buoyancy World — a purpose-built training and skills area set on shallow sand about12 meters deep. Together, the natural reef structure and controlled sandy plateau provide the perfect balance between exploration and skill development.
Currents & Conditions
This area is generally sheltered and enjoys calm, predictable conditions throughout most of the year. Except in the June to August windy monsoon! Currents are typically light to minimal, making it ideal for students, refreshers, and relaxed fun dives. Visibility commonly ranges from 10–25 meters depending on the season, and water temperatures remain a steady 27–30°C year-round. Its protected location makes it one of the most reliable sites when other areas may be more exposed.
Underwater Landscape & Marine Life
Twins delivers vibrant coral gardens draped over granite formations, while Buoyancy World offers open sandy patches designed for comfortable skill practice without disturbing fragile reef. The pinnacles are covered in hard corals and anemones, attracting schools of fusiliers and snapper that swirl above the reef. Angelfish, butterflyfish, and parrotfish add colour at every level. On the sand, blue-spotted stingrays often rest peacefully, and moray eels peer from cracks between the rocks. Turtles occasionally cruise through the area, and the sandy sections are fantastic for spotting smaller critters like nudibranchs and pipefish. The beauty of this combined site is the seamless transition from structured reef exploration to open training space — making it feel both lively and accessible at the same time.

Perfect for beginners and Open Water divers thanks to its shallow profile and calm conditions. Buoyancy World is ideal for training dives, refreshers, and specialty courses focused on trim and control. Advanced divers still enjoy the coral density at Twins for relaxed fun dives and night dives. Strong buoyancy skills are encouraged to protect the healthy reef environment.
Access & Logistics
Twins and Buoyancy World are regular features on our morning dive and afternoon schedules. We meet at 7:20am and depart directly from Sairee Beach via our shuttle boats to our main dive boat. The short travel time maximizes bottom time and keeps the morning relaxed. These sites are often paired with other nearby locations around Koh Nang Yuan for a varied two-dive trip, with return to shore around 12:30pm — easy logistics, calm conditions, and maximum reef time all in one outing. Afternoon dives meet at 12:15 back by about 17:30 with a second dive at another west coast site.
