An essential part of any training given to a Dive professional is massively overlooked in this day and age & absolutely shouldn’t be. It’s an integral part of being a Divemaster or Instructor and is the one course that seperates those diving professionals that know as opposed to those that think they know!
Most diving professionals will understand when a tank ‘O’ ring needs replacing or how to replace a fin strap or mask strap but very few understand how to service a regulator or how to solve the issue of a self inflating BCD after all the service and repair of scuba equipment is not intuitive even for those with formal engineering training in other disciplines. Scuba regulator spare parts kits and scuba repair tools are also difficult to source and purchase. Only formal training in the repair and maintenance of dive equipment will set you apart as a true Dive Professional.
So yesterday we were very grateful to be given the chance to be updated by Chris Haslam of Aquatec on servicing balanced and unbalanced regulators at our equipment room at Big Blue Tech. An excellent day of training and an extremely vital part of being a Diving professional.
