The Open Water Course is far removed from the backpacker courses of yesteryear. These days you don’t even have to be on Koh Tao to start your course. You can start your Open Water Course online right from the comfort of your home!
Backpackers used to arrive at their destination with no fixed plans and a totally flexible timetable to go from one place to the next. The trend these days for the modern backpacker is to go visit and see as many places as possible in whatever period of time the traveller has available. Consequently, our old visitors to Koh Tao would often stay here for an average duration of 7 days. They hadn’t necessarily planned on staying so long but they liked Koh Tao and there was no desperate urgency to head off to the next place so they’d hang out here for a day or two longer than originally expected. Our new visitors have their travel schedule planned out and will only visit the island for a few days before moving to their next destination.
Nowadays however people arrive believing that 4 days is enough time to spend on the island then they book their ferry ticket and accommodation at their next destination before they’ve even set foot on the island. Which also means that many people aren’t even considering taking part in the Open Water Diver Course any more because it would leave them no time to do anything else.
What if I could tell you that we now have a very cunning way in which you can get your Open Water Diver certification with us and instead of it taking 4 days it will only take you a day and a half!
The secret is – self-study and online learning! Do your theory section of the Open Water Diver Course before you even get here and you’ll be well ahead of the rest. When you arrive you’ll do a morning in the swimming pool and then head out to do your first two dives in the ocean. The next morning you’ll do your final two dives in the ocean and then that’s it – you’re now a certified Open Water Diver.
How Do I Register For the Open Water Course Online?
From a laptop click through to https://my.divessi.com/register and enter your personal details. Type in Big Blue Diving Koh Tao 766075 and click submit.
You will then need to log in. You will get an email to your email address and you need to follow that link.
The next step is go to the menu at the top and click the ‘program and cards’ option and then ‘programs’ from the drop-down tab.
Scroll down the page till you get to Scuba Diver and you will have the first 3 sections of the course. Once you have done that go to Book Now to complete the booking form and pay a deposit. After you’ve done that we will issue the full Open Water Diver Course materials. When you get to the course section on the booking form, the course you need to select is the Open Water Course.
Don’t forget to ensure you are medically fit to dive first though guys! Take a look at the required medical questionnaire to make sure you’re fit to dive.
