Freediving. Apnea. Breath-hold Diving. They’re all talking about the same thing – diving on a single breath. As each year passes, freediving becomes more and more popular. In fact, it’s the fastest growing water sport in the world. Even though there are stars in the freediving world that can do some incredible things, everybody has to start somewhere. And if you’re looking to get started in the sport then the Basic Freediving Course is for you.
Is the Basic Freediving Course really that breathtaking?
Freediving is about silence. It’s about being at one with nature and instilling confidence in yourself to do something you never thought possible. Can you imagine being able to hold your breath for over 3 minutes? Can you imagine being able to descend to the depths scuba divers reach without a tank on your back? You won’t achieve those feats on this course, but you will start to learn the skills you will need to accomplish those things.
On the Basic Freediver Course allow us to introduce you to a brand new world. A world we need to adjust our body for, and a world where the local inhabitants accept you as one of their own. After all, no bubbles, no troubles! Few scuba divers will ever get to experience the underwater world in this way. A Scuba Diver is as noisy as a fortress under siege. The deep inhalation of air through the regulator is like the winding up of a catapult about to launch. Followed by the incessant barrage of bubbles, frightens all the underwater marine life away. But a Freediver is as silent as a still wind! No inhalation, no bubbles, no beeping computers. Consequently, a Freediver finds acceptance among the underwater community, as readily as any wandering denizen of the deep.
On the Basic Freediving Course, you will learn simple breathing techniques to swim underwater comfortably. We will discuss physiology, breathing, relaxation, and rescue techniques, followed by a breathing and relaxation practice session. Finally, the open water session, where you’ll put into practice all the freediving concepts you’ve learned so far.
