This deep water pinnacle rises dramatically from 30 meters to just break the surface, and is most famous for “The Chimney”—a vertical swim-through tunnel that transports you from 18m to 6m in one thrilling ascent.
But it’s the marine life that steals the show. Expect huge schools of batfish, barracuda, snapper, trevally, and jacks swirling in slow-motion chaos. Look closer and you’ll find scorpionfish, moray eels, cleaner shrimp, and nudibranchs tucked into every crevice.

This dive site is famous for its enormous schools of batfish, barracuda, snapper, and giant trevally. At times, visibility is crystal clear—creating a sensation of floating through a marine cathedral filled with silver-streaked movement and action in all directions.
Watch the thermocline and hang just above it for your best chance to see something big—whale sharks are known to patrol this site during the season, and great barracuda often lurk just beyond the edge of visibility, waiting to dart through the bait balls.
Keep your eyes peeled near the bottom for Jenkins’ whiprays, groupers, and nudibranchs dotting the granite. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a passing sailfish or cobia out in the blue.

3. Southwest Pinnacle – Where the Fusiliers Flow Like a River
Often overlooked but never underwhelming, Southwest Pinnacle is another breathtaking underwater playground just 12km from Koh Tao. This site features a series of submerged pinnacles starting at around 7 meters and dropping to over 30 meters. It’s a favorite among local dive pros for its sheer beauty and aquatic drama.
Here you’ll be greeted by what can only be described as a “river of fusiliers”—tens of thousands of vibrant blue and yellow fish flowing in perfect synchrony across the landscape. It’s hypnotic, and the kind of underwater sight that stays with you forever.
Lurking behind the curtain of fusiliers are giant groupers, cobia, barracuda, and chevron snapper. While closer to the reef, scorpionfish, moray eels, and the occasional octopus wait patiently for the night to fall.
We see Whale sharks regularly at these sites. Particularly during peak season (March to May, and again in September to October). The structure of this site makes it ideal for both deep exploration and leisurely shallower dives full of color and diversity.
